Message from the Provost

Brian AmkrautWith the spring term in full swing we look forward to an exciting array of activities the college will be hosting during the upcoming months.  Our spring series of events in February and March includes the closing program for Hodesh Limud focused on protecting the Earth, discussions about Jewish Art, creating Jewish communities, spirituality and climate change, and a number of programs focused on Israel, including a conversation with Dan Friedman from The Forward, author Rich Cohen discussing his book Israel is Real, and a performance and discussion of Music from the Land of Israel, with an eye towards April when the college hosts Israeli Author Savyon Liebrecht and presents its second annual Reel Israel Documentary Film Series.  As always the college has ongoing classes in Hebrew and a number of subjects, with some new offerings that take a look at Jewish Genealogy, Contemporary Modern Orthodoxy, Kabbalah, and New Trends in Jewish Spirituality.  And though the snow continues to fall in Cleveland, we are looking forward to our second annual Summer Institute, Moreh L’Morim, this year featuring scholar in residence Professor Alan T. Levenson.  We always welcome returning students as well as new faces.  Please don’t hesitate to drop in and try out a course or join us for one of our free events; once you start learning at Siegal College, you won’t want to stop.

Siegal College is Cleveland’s higher education resource for classical Jewish learning and modern scholarship.  Siegal College prepares Jewish educators and other communal professionals through degree programs, facilitates the Jewish journey of continuing education students, and provides a nondenominational environment for people of diverse backgrounds to explore Jewish life - past, present, and future.
