Message from the Provost

Brian AmkrautSummertime is here which means we are gearing up for our second annual Summer Institute, Moreh L’Morim.  This year's lineup of visiting scholars, Siegal College faculty, and local experts will only whet your appetite to continue learning with Siegal College throughout the year.  We are pleased to incorporate  free evening programs within the summer institute including Rabbi Steve Greenberg discussing "Gayness and God" and long-time Cleveland Professor Alan Levenson who will speak at the college on the evening of August 11.  Mark your calendars for the beginning of our fall term with a kick-off event featuring professor Ronald A. Brauner on August 25.  A tentative slate of fall programs and courses is available here, which lists not only mini-courses and full semester classes but lectures, films, Continuing Legal Education programs and other intellectual and cultural activities to suit all of your Jewish learning interests, including community wide participation in the first ever Global Day of Jewish Learning on November 7, 2010.  This coming January we will mark 100 years of the kibbutz movement in Israel with special programming and classes and we cannot wait to announce the featured speaker for 2011’s annual Israeli author event.  Please join us for any or all of these activities and be on the lookout for on-line registration for fall courses.

Siegal College is Cleveland’s higher education resource for classical Jewish learning and modern scholarship.  Siegal College prepares Jewish educators and other communal professionals through degree programs, facilitates the Jewish journey of continuing education students, and provides a nondenominational environment for people of diverse backgrounds to explore Jewish life - past, present, and future.
