SIEGAL COLLGE DEBUTS NEW LANGUAGE MEDIA CENTER
Offers Free Technology Workshops to the Community

Siegal College of Judaic Studies is pleased to announce the re-opening of its language media center, a state-of-the-art facility allowing students access to updated computers, software, online services and long-distance learning capabilities. In addition, beginning this month, Siegal College will offer free technology workshops to the community.

On March 30, from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, and on April 1, from 4:00 – 5:30 pm, Siegal College IT Director, Eli Aschkenasy, will present the first workshop called, Create your own Family Movie. This class, designed to teach the tools needed to convert old home movies into digital files and to then share them online, students will learn how to plan the movie, collect materials necessary, (whether it be from their own library of videos, or the internet), what technology tools are necessary, legal notices to adhere to, and tips and tricks for editing the movies created.

Future workshops will occur monthly and will cover a variety of topics including how to use Skype, basic to advanced tutorials on Microsoft programs including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and any other topics the community is interested in learning. Siegal College is open to suggestions.The Language Media Center (LMC) is equipped with six computers and can comfortably hold 12 participants at a time. In addition to these free workshops, the LMC will be used for Siegal College classes, Hebrew and Yiddish study, and long-distance learners.
