Advanced Readings in Biblical Narrative: The Book of Ruth

The Book of Ruth is a tale of familial loyalty, nobility of character, and the adoption of an outsider into the family of Abraham. In a larger biblical context, it is also the story of how acts of selfless kindness pay off an ancient "karmic debt" in the lineage of David, thus clearing the way for his divine election as king of Israel.

Students continue to acquire basic knowledge of Hebrew as the language of the Bible and their prayer book. They learn vocabulary and grammar necessary for understanding prayers and biblical narratives.
