Join us. Be a part of the Global Day. On November 7th, Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz will complete 45 years of a groundbreaking initiative to translate and explain the entire Talmud—making it accessible to all. The Global Day of Jewish Learning will honor that achievement by bringing together Jewish communities around the world in an historic, unifying experience.
Over 230 communities’ world wide will come together in this day to celebrate our shared heritage. This is the first worldwide, transdenominational and nondenominational event devoted to Jewish learning and the ways in which it can bring us together.
Cleveland’s community program: Think Globally…Learn Locally: Why is the Talmud Relevant to 21st Century Jews will be held at Siegal college on November 7, 2010 from 12:30-3:30pm.
Think Globally … Learn Locally will bring together Cleveland Jews from all denominations to Siegal College for an opportunity to learn together about the relevance of the Talmud today, share our similarities and embrace our differences.
Program Highlights:
- A look at the amazing work of Rabbi Steinsaltz
- An interdenominational panel featuring scholars and rabbis from Cleveland's diverse Jewish community: including Rabbi Moshe Berger, Kyla Epstein Schneider and Rabbi Shawn Zevit
- 2:00pm - A live video feed from Jerusalem of Rabbi Steinsaltz explaining his work translating the Talmud and a brief completion siyyum (ceremony)
- Break out courses that will engage in Talmud study and relevancy, "team taught" by facilitators from diverse ideological/denominational backgrounds

For Families with Younger Children
Join the PJ Library’s® celebration of the Global Day of Jewish Learning at a PJ Library community Story Time on either Saturday or Sunday, November 6 or 7. Using one of the very popular PJ Library books, Bagels for Benny, or Joseph Had a Little Overcoat the PJ library story time will explore the themes of tikun olam (repairing the world), our relationship with God, recycling and other Jewish values. FREE and open to the community, drop in for one of the following: Reservations are encouraged.
